Francis Ciera Mbugua

Francis Ciera Mbugua, 77, of Worcester and Kenya, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at UMass Hospital in Worcester.

Francis is survived by his wife, Margaret Wairimu (Njoroge) Ciera; a son, James Mbugua Ciera of Kenya; four daughters, Mary Wangari Ciera of Kenya, Lucy Wanjiru Ciera of New Jersey, Elizabeth Ngina Ciera and Keziah Muthoni Ciera of Worcester; fourteen grandchildren. Francis was born in Kiambu, Kenya, son of the late James Mbugua Ciera and the late Raguri Wangari.

Francis worked as a mason, farmer and businessman. He was a member and lay preacher of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ruiru, Kenya. He was known to be a great storyteller, teacher and wonderful grandfather.

Calling Hours will be on Friday, September 26, from 10 am until his Funeral Service begins at 11 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
