James F. Hunt

James F. Hunt, 78, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in Boylston on Monday, April 6, 2026. He is survived and greatly missed by his beloved partner of eight years Diane Watkins of Hubbardston; two loving children- Meghan McCann and her husband Denis of Boylston, and Brendan Hunt and his wife Kelly of Hubbardston; grandchildren Ailis, Maeve, Charley, and Maddox; siblings Thomas Hunt, Susan Johnson and her husband Steven, and Kathy Dunn and her husband James; many nieces and nephews; and his dog Brandi. He was predeceased by his wife Bonnie Lee (Bogosian) Hunt in 2017, siblings Daniel, Mary, and Kevin Hunt, sister-in-law Debbie Hunt, and his loving dog Darby.

James was born in Worcester on June 16, 1947, son of the late Thomas and Jane (McPartland) Hunt. He attended Quinsigamond Community College. He was a proud machinist for over 45 years, retiring from Saint Gobain Company. James loved blues music and loved attending blues festivals. He was a man with a green thumb who had a fondness for gardening. He enjoyed the outdoors and found camping to be a fun pastime. He also loved to travel with Diane- especially to their favorite place, Aruba. Above all, James adored his family.

A period of calling hours will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026 from 10:00am – 11:30am at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston. In lieu of flowers, donations in James’ memory may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League.
