Lorraine (Kouri) Lian, 91, of Worcester and Dennis, passed away with her cherished family by her side on Orthodox Easter Sunday, April 12, 2026. Lorraine is welcomed into heaven by her husband of 69 years, Honorable Judge Joseph Lian, Jr., who passed away on December 5th of last year.
Lorraine is survived by her two devoted children, Cynthia Lian Henderson and her husband Dennis Henderson of Worcester, and Joseph Lian III of Ashland, Oregon; two granddaughters, Lianne Henderson, Esq. and her husband Aaron Vigneault, and Erica Henderson and her husband Aaron Griffing; three great grandchildren, Rory, Mae and Marlow; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, three brothers, Paul, Edmund and William Kouri and three sisters, Vi Massad, Lillian Corey and Glay Abdow predeceased her.
Lorraine was born in Worcester to Alex and Sadie (Stephan) Kouri. Raised in Worcester, Lorraine graduated from Commerce High School and joined the family business, A.M. Kouri Company in Webster. Following a period raising her children, Lorraine entered the workforce again, partnering with her brother Paul to form the clothing retailer The Alternate Limited in the Worcester Galleria.
Lorraine was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Melkite Catholic Church in Worcester where she served on many church committees and volunteer activities. In 2016, Lorraine and Joe received the St. Julie Award from Notre Dame Academy for their volunteer efforts with their church and other charitable groups as well as their support of the Academy. Lorraine loved to entertain and bring people together with her delicious Lebanese cooking and her warm smile.
Friends and relatives are invited to gather for calling hours, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, followed by her funeral service at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 16th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 256 Hamilton Street in Worcester. Burial in Hope Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in her name can be made to Notre Dame du Lac Memory Care Unit or Notre Dame Hospice, 555 Plantation Street, Worcester MA 01605.
