Janet L. (Farrar) Cerrone, 92, a lifelong resident of Worcester and winters in Delray Beach Florida, passed away with her cherished family gathered by her side Monday, April 13, 2026. She is welcomed home to heaven into the arms of the love of her life and husband of 61 years Anthony Cerrone who passed away in 2014 and grandson Cpt Michael Cerrone who was killed in action during Enduring Freedom in Iraq in 2006.
Janet was born in Worcester, the daughter of James A. and Agnes K. (Anderson) Farrar. Raised in Worcester, she married Anthony in 1952 and settled in the Grafton Hill area where they raised their family. Janet worked for over 27 years in the personnel department of the Wonder Market, Big D. supermarket until retiring. Janet is survived by a son BG James A. Cerrone (US Army ret) and his wife Elizabeth of Lawton Oklahoma; a daughter Lynn A. Restuccia and her companion, Kenneth Schiessl of Worcester; three grandchildren she was so proud of, Jamie, James "Tony" and Katie, 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Cynthia Lazar of Boylston; her former son in law John Restuccia of Princeton, many nieces nephews, and extended family members. She was a member of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, and enjoyed her role as a housewife, mother and grandmother. She loved caring for her home, cooking and baking for her family and anyone who entered her home. Janet’s most special moments in life were those with her family around her.
Friends and relatives are invited to gather for calling hours Friday April 17th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. Her son Deacon James Cerrone will lead a vigil service at 6:30 pm in the funeral home. Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 18th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd, where her celebration of Christian burial mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Vets Inc. 69 Grove Street Worcester, MA, 01605.
