Patricia M. Bonczyk

Patricia M. (Fortin) Bonczyk, 85, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at UMass Hospital in Worcester.  Her loving husband of sixty-three years, Edward F. Bonczyk, predeceased her in June 2019.

Patricia is survived by three sons, Scott K. Bonczyk, Stephan E. Bonczyk and his wife Audrey, and Paul F. Bonczyk and his wife Aileen, all of Worcester; a daughter, Maria H. Corrigan and her husband Brian of Holden; two brothers, James Fortin of NY and John Fortin of AR; seven grandchildren, James, Paul, Steffany, Rebecca, Nicholas, Amanda, and Austin; four great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Joella, London, Philip, and a fifth great grandchild, Lukas, to be born in November; many nieces and nephews.  She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Albert and Helen (Butler) Fortin and has lived here all her life.  She graduated from Worcester South High School and from the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing.

Patricia was a Registered Nurse and worked for many years for the Worcester School Department.  She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.  She was also a member of the Encore Group at UMass, the YWCA, where she enjoyed swimming before gathering with friends at Culpeppers Bakery for “Ladies Coffee Club”; and enjoyed a great shopping trip whenever she could.  Patricia and Ed enjoyed one another immensely and traveled extensively, having visited twenty-six countries.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 13, at 12 Noon at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street, Worcester.  There are no calling hours, as a precaution for the health of everyone, due to the current pandemic.

*In accordance with current health regulations, social distancing practices and the use of a face mask will be required at the church.
