Elisabeta Skende

Elisabeta (Meksi) Skende, 64, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Tuesday January 12th 2010, surrounded by her devoted family after a very long and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her beloved family; Her husband of 40 years Petrit Skende; her cherished children, Andi Skende and his wife Estela of Worcester, Elvin Skende and his wife Tara of New York City; two adored grandchildren; Clarisse and Leora; a brother Fedhon Meksi in Albania; nieces, nephews and friends. Elisabeta was born in Tirana, Albania a daughter of Vangjel and Efigjeni (Lito) Meksi and has lived in Worcester since 1997. Elisabeta worked as a teacher, many years with education focus on the sciences. She is fondly remembered for her smile, love and affection which brought warmth into people's lives. Elisabeta will be sadly missed by her family, friends and her former students she spent a lifetime mentoring. The funeral will be held Thursday, January 14th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a mass at 11:00 a.m. in St Mary Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Wednesday, January 13th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. A trisagion service will be held at 6 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St Mary Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St Worcester.
