Wayne J. Curran, of North Woodstock, NH, and formerly of Worcester, passed away on January 31, 2026, at the age of 70.
Wayne was born in Worcester, the son of the late Joseph J. and Pearl M. (Banks) Curran. He was raised in the Lake View neighborhood of Worcester, surrounded by his loving grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cherished cousins. From an early age, Wayne developed the innate ability to locate the best dish of macaroni around, and he was equally at home at any of the family dining room tables.
Wayne attended North High School, where he drummed in many bands and also on any available surface. As a teenager, Wayne had the good fortune of meeting the love of his life, Linda T. Belliveau. Wayne and Linda shared 44 long and glorious years of marriage.
Wayne graduated from Worcester State University with a degree in Geography and Environmental Studies. He was a dedicated public servant, working in public health for the City of Worcester for 37 years until his retirement in 2018. Following his retirement, Wayne continued to work as the Health Agent for the Town of Paxton.
Throughout his life, Wayne was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hiking, hunting, fishing, golfing and especially skiing. Wayne’s love of skiing was infectious, and he was delighted to share this passion with his family and friends. When skiing with Wayne, it was never a bad day on the mountain.
It was this love of skiing that brought Wayne and Linda to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. What began with college ski trips blossomed into a community of many dear friends. Wayne eventually realized his dream of retiring in the mountains, which filled his final years with utmost joy.
In addition to his wife, Linda, Wayne is survived by his son, Joseph J. Curran, and his daughter-in-law, Allison. He was the beloved Poppa to his grandsons, Jack and Mike Curran, whom he adored. Wayne also leaves his sister, Donna McGoldrick, along with brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
