On Sunday evening, June 14, 2026, Virginia (Sargentelli) Frankian, passed away at 98, just fifteen months short of her goal to reach 100. It was a peaceful death, and she had always said that she had a full life for which she was grateful. Our family would like to think that she was ready to move on to her new existence with family and friends that passed before her. She wasn’t one to waste her time.
She grew up in Worcester, daughter of Albert and Amelia (DelGreco) Sargentelli; along with her two brothers, Michael and Louis Sargentelli, and four sisters, Gloria Popillo, Jeannette Sartgentelli, Inez Meringolo, and Mabel Tariela. She fondly remembered dancing around the kitchen table, while her mother looked on. She had a love for dancing that continued to play an important part in her life, until the age of ninety-three. Her first husband, Anthony Morrone, shared that love of dancing and they would spend every weekend with their friends dancing at dance halls around the Worcester area.
Virginia and Anthony owned Morrone Spa on the corner of Wall Street and Suffolk Street in Worcester, which became a fixture known to all on Grafton Hill. Tony, as he was mostly known, died early at the age of 48. As tragic as his death was, she sold the store and started working at the Friendly House, where she would remain for thirty-seven years. During this time, she married Anthony Frankian, Richad Huntoon, and later lived with Buddy Villa, all of whom predeceased her and were previous dancing friends.
Virginia was a member of the Frohsinn Club, where she remained active and organized weekly club dances and offered dancing lessons on Sundays. These fun activities sustained her well into her 90’s, as she also returned to The Friendly House part-time until she was 93.
Throughout her life, she remained true to herself and enjoyed every moment with a continued faith in God.
Calling Hours will be on Monday, June 22, from 9 am until 10:15 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester; followed by a procession to an 11 am Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Road, Worcester. Interment will held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Friendly House, 36 Wall Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
