Virginia H. (Fenuccio) Caricchio, 94 of Worcester, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
Virginia was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Fiore and Raphaela (Garratanio) Fenuccio. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt who enjoyed cooking and baking traditional Italian food in particular her cookies and meatballs, cleaning and taking care of her family. Virginia was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church and active for many years at the church bazaar and Italian festival volunteering her time at the baking booth and an active member of the women’s guild.
Virginia’s husband of 49 years, Anthony M. Caricchio passed away in 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Maria Caricchio of Worcester; her son, Michael Caricchio and his wife Laurie of Worcester with whom she lived with; two brothers, William Fenuccio and his wife Janet of Westboro and Carlo Fenuccio of Worcester; two sisters, Jeannette McGurl of Mashpee and AnneMarie Carney of Worcester; five grandchildren, Tori and Josie Assad, Arianna Caricchio, Eleanor and James Krueger; a great grandchild, Remi Jenkins; three sisters-in-law, Anna Fenuccio of West Boylston, Judy Fenuccio of Mashpee and Paula Direnzo-Fenuccio of Worcester; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Besides her husband and parents, Virginia was predeceased by five brothers, Raymond, Frank “Sooky,” John, Sr., Joseph and Richard Fenuccio; two sisters, Eileen Paolucci and Josephine Mandella; four sisters-in-law, Joanne Fenuccio, Ruth Fenuccio, Gloria Fenuccio and Isabel Fenuccio; four brothers-in-law, George McGurl, Howard Carney, Dominic Paolucci and Edward Mandella; two godsons, Robert McGurl and John Paolucci.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 4-7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, May 22nd at 10:30 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
