Vincent passed away peacefully on June 25th, at Memorial Hospital, after a period of declining health. He leaves behind his wife, Joan Casamassima, his high school sweetheart whom he married on June 1, 1958, and for the next 68 years shared a cherished relationship. He was a resident of Worcester for many years before moving to Northborough. Vincent leaves behind a son, Vincent Casamassima III and his wife Patricia Casamassima of Sutton MA. Two daughters, Gina Casamassima of Severn MD and Melina Casamassima of Northborough. A son David Casamassima predeceased him. He leaves behind three grandsons, Jake, Dominic, and Brandon Casamassima and a sister, Dorthey Metz of Northborough. He leaves behind his niece Sheila Suire, with whom He had a close relationship. Vincent was predeceased by three brothers, Dominic, Anthony and Albert.

Vincent was born on January 2, 1937, in Worcester, the Son of Vincent and Caterina (Campanale) Casamassima, Italian immigrants who came to this country in the 1920’s from the village of Cassano delle Murge, Bari. Vincent grew up in the Italian neighborhood of Benedict Rd. He graduated from Commerce High School and started his career at the Big Discount Wonder Markets. He quickly worked his way up to store manager and eventually a regional manager, where he worked until his retirement. His co-workers knew him as Vinnie Casino.

After a short retirement he went back to working managing the liquor store VinnyC’s in Boylston MA. Vincent had a love of gardening and was an avid horticulturist, maintaining his gardens up until this spring. He loved music, entertaining his family and friends with his outstanding cooking. He will be very much missed by his family, including many nephews and nieces. At Vincent’s request funeral services were held privately. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St in Worcester assisted the family with arrangements.
