Born on November 21, 1969, in Freetown but hails from Waterloo in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Adekunle was the daughter of Sylvester Babatunde Johnson and Matilda OMO Johnson.
Theresa Adekunle Johnson was married to Augustine Kanjia, (Austin). Her greatest joy came from her children and husband. She was a super loving mother to Alice Hannah, Glen, Mary Hannah, Ann-Britt Anna. Sofia and Elisa were adopted and she counted and loved them equally. She adored her grandchildren, Austin, Osman, and Ms. Ariel, who brought her tremendous joy into her life.
Theresa leaves behind her siblings: Patrick Babatunde Johnson, Mary Johnson, (Mrs. Samuels - UK), Dick Johnson and Lucian Johnson l. She is also survived by Augustine Kanjia (Austin), her husband, Sylvester Maturi (Manchester UK) as well as nieces and nephews and a great many friends.
Theresa dedicated herself to her education, graduating with an HND in computer technology. She took a great pride in computer science and took pride working at a newspaper as a confidential secretary to the editor. She worked relentlessly to achieve results and showed her unwavering commitment and pride in what she did. She had the passion for teaching which she did for a few years before getting into the area she liked most.
Thinking beyond her career, Theresa was a passionate mother who volunteered to do a lot for her community. She volunteered for the city of Worcester and other organizations. She opened a compassionate NGO working to help the poor in The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Liberia. She never wanted to see people hungry and suffering. She was simply called Mother Theresa for the little good she did. She sponsored orphans and made them happy in The Gambia and Sierra Leone. She tirelessly impacted young lives who are now crying for her.
Adekunle faced life’s challenges with faith, resilience and determination with a heart full of compassion and forgiveness. Her love for others and her tremendous commitment to her husband, made her an outstanding inspiration to all who knew her. Her faith was strong. Her last words were, “the devil is a liar.”
