Tessa (Mattress) Mahoney

Tessa L. (Mattress) Mahoney, 45, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 10^th, 2021, due to previous medical conditions.  

Tessa was born in Worcester, one of two daughters of the late Gary and Mia (Ginese) Mattress. Raised here she graduated from North High School, and the Salter School.  Tessa worked as a PCA in the ICU of the Umass-Memorial University Campus.    Meeting in grammar school Tessa and Shawn became sweethearts,  they wed in 2002 and spent the past 19 years married and devoted to one another with love and dedication.

Tessa is survived by her soulmate and life’s love, Shawn; a sister, Gina M. Parker of Webster;  six nieces, Gianna and her husband Jake, Brielle, Shaye, Mackenna, Caroline and Colleen; two nephews, Nicholas and Nathan; her mother and father in law, Francis “Butch” Mahoney, Sr and Grace Mahoney, a brother and sisters in law, Francis “Butch” Mahoney, Jr. and his wife Kelly, and Denise Houle; Many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  

Tessa was a vibrant individual with a giant smile, fun-loving sense of life and extreme generosity.  She enjoyed traveling, Las Vegas, Elvis, the beach and all the moments she spent with Shawn, family, and friends. 

Calling hours for Tessa will be held Friday, December 17, 2021, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, followed by a prayer service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Asthma research care of the Umass Memorial Foundation, 333 South Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later  date.
