Worcester- Spiritwalker Woods, 70, passed away at home on Thursday, February 12, 2026. She is survived and greatly missed by her daughter Crystal Perrone and her husband Joshua, her sister Helen Austin, and her brother John Fiske. Additionally, by her nephew Kevin Austin and his wife Amanda, and their children Ava and Owen. Her niece Amber Smith and her husband Trai, and their children Jaxsen, Thea, and Lucas. As well as her nephew Jonathan Austin. She was predeceased by her daughter Kimberly Woods and her brother Edward Gauthier.
Spiritwalker was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Edward and Eva (Simpson) Butler. She was a student of Tae Kwon Do and many derivations of world spiritualism - both old and new. She believed in experiencing life, and enjoyed being outside in nature - including hiking in the woods, survivalist studies, stargazing, herbology, and even watching thunderstorms from our porch. Some of her favorite passions were reading, writing poetry, interpretive dance, singing, making hand-crafted jewelry, crochet projects, and doing anything involving the creative arts regardless of medium, as well as studying absolutely everything she could find.
She was always a wandering dreamer, who loved tea, animals, traveling, going on impulsive adventures to anywhere, and listening to Gordon Lightfoot. During the latter holidays, she enjoyed going on walks around the neighborhood to admire the Christmas lights and decorations. She was always taking care of others and if you came into her home as a visitor, you can rest assured that you wouldn’t leave hungry as she was a paragon of hospitality and ensured everyone was fed a good meal before their departure.
Throughout the years, she attended and participated in various events and gatherings, and made an effort to support those of Indigenous descent including, during her time at WCCA TV 13 as an intern, hosting a program entitled “Drum of the People” which served as a discussion forum for subjects directly involving the tribes and their people.
She was never too busy to make time for those she loved - even if it was going to the park after a long day of work, reading bedtime stories, stomping with you in rain puddles until you were both soaked, or staying up late nights playing board games and laughing over whatever our fatigued-minds manufactured in the moment. She passed on any knowledge she had freely but was also never afraid to admit not knowing an answer. To that, unlike many, she would simply respond: “I don’t know. But let’s look it up and we’ll both find out!”
Most of all, she was wise, supportive, patient, an exceptional listener, always taught empathy, kindness, and understanding of others even as she offered unconditional love and compassion - and the world is certainly the less without the brightness of her presence.
Per Spiritwalker’s wishes, there will be no services. Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
