Sophie (Sue) Ustinovich Pignataro, of Millbury, Massachusetts, formerly of Worcester, passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 98, after a short illness, surrounded by the love of her family.

Sophie grew up in Worcester and was a graduate of Commerce High School. She was born to Luka and Julia (Borisevich) Ustinovich and was the youngest of nine children. Known affectionately as Sue, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, cherished for her warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family.

She retired after 25 years of dedicated service in the Loss Prevention Department at Filene’s, a role she took great pride in. After her retirement, Sophie devoted her time to her grandchildren and always made sure to sneak them Oreo cookies, a small joy that became a treasured memory.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Rinaldi, and husband Louis of Worcester; her son, Michael Pignataro of New Jersey; her grandchildren Brianna Troiano and her husband Anthony of Worcester, and Joseph Rinaldi of Los Angeles, California; her beloved great-granddaughter, Sophie Grace Troiano; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jaclyn Rinaldi (2022); her son, Bill Pignataro (2025); and all of her siblings.

Sophie loved her extended family at CareOne, where she enjoyed sharing her life stories and cherished recipes, and proudly talking about her children and grandchildren. She was a pro on her iPad and especially loved FaceTiming with her little Sophie Grace, which brought her immense joy.

Sophie also treasured visits from her special longtime friend Mary Sharry, whom she dearly loved. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at CareOne, especially those on the Grafton Unit, for their compassion and dedicated care. Special thanks to Christine, Chrissy, Florence, Joyce, and to her friend Val, who always brought her a coffee.

She will be remembered for her devotion to family, her storytelling spirit, her strong work ethic, and the enduring legacy of love she leaves behind. Sophie always ended her calls with, “I love you too, too much,” and in true Sophie fashion, those words were simply how she felt.

At Sophie’s request, all services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
