Master Sergeant Shawn W. Lizotte, Ret., 49 of Webster, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital after a four-year battle with cancer.
Shawn was born in Worcester and grew up in Auburn where he was a graduate of Auburn High School, Class of 1994. After graduation, Shawn enlisted in the United States Air Force serving his country for 24 years retiring in 2018. During his service, Shawn served in various wars including Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom and was a highly decorated veteran. Upon Shawn’s return home, he took a position as a dispatcher for the WRTA in 2019 and worked up until weeks prior to his passing. Shawn was a hard worker and an amazing provider for his family. He enjoyed baseball, golf, watching anime and gaming. Shawn loved and looked forward to his annual family vacation and annual anniversary trip with his wife.
Shawn is survived by his wife, Debra (Bembenek) Lizotte; a son, Cole Lizotte of O’Fallon, IL; a daughter, Caeli Lizotte of Vancouver, Canada; his mother, Linda (Clarke) Lizotte of Auburn; twin step-children, Sophia and Anthony Thomas both of Webster; two sisters, Justine Caron and her husband Patrick of Newton, NH and his twin sister, Kirsten Camarra and her husband Jonathan of Worcester; two nieces and a nephew, Alexia and Dante Camarra and Sofie Caron. Shawn was predeceased by his father, Edgar Lizotte, Jr. and his niece, Chloe Caron.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 2-4 pm followed by military funeral honors at 4:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via dana-farber.org/gift.
