Sharon (Sherby) Mercadante

Sharon A. (Sherby) Mercadante, 74, of Auburn died peacefully, Tuesday, August 12, 2025, after a brief illness. Sharon joins in heaven the “love of her life” and husband Frederick “Freddy” Mercadante who passed one year ago on August 9, 2024.

Sharon was born in Worcester, the daughter of William Sherby and Nora (Goodrich) Sherby, Barton. She graduated from Doherty High School, and married Freddy Mercadante. They settled in Worcester to raise their two sons, Michael and Marc. Over the next 51 years, they enjoyed a life of love, family and devotion, in Worcester, Auburn, and North Fort Myers, Florida. Sharon enthusiastically cherished her role as a wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael Mercadante and his wife Tracy of Spencer, Marc Mercadante and his partner Stephen Zukowski of Worcester; seven grandchildren, a great granddaughter; nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her parents,and love freddy, a sister Nora Carlissi predeceased her. Sharon worked for the Honey Farms Convenience store corporation. She managed the Grafton Street location for over 12 years. Sharon enjoyed, being with her children and grandchildren, the beach, attending shows in Florida, and reading. She notably had a gift to identify and remember the musical songs of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. 

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Saturday, August 16th, from 12 noon to 2:00 pm followed by a prayer service in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrance in his name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of NH/MA, 309 Waverly Oaks, Rd, Waltham, MA 02452
