Scott A. Whitney, 59, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at UMass Hospital in Worcester.
Scott is survived by his wife with whom he’s shared thirty-five years, Pamela J. (Hill) Whitney; their son, Andrew S. Whitney; a daughter, Rose Reynolds; two brothers, Louis Whitney and his husband Michael Donovan and Michael Whitney and his wife Kimberly; a sister, Sherry Whitney; his mother-in-law, Theresa Hill; a brother in law, Jason Crue; two sisters-in-law, Pat Hill, and Paula McGarrell wife of the late Stephen McGarrell; many nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Kimberly Crue; and by his father-in-law, Douglas Hill. Scott was born in Worcester, son of the late Ronald and Anna (Paquette) Whitney, and has lived here all his life.
Scott loved cars and with his education at Worcester Vocational High and with his own tenacity for learning, he became proficient in the care maintenance and repair business. For many years he worked at Firestone in Shrewsbury and Natick working as a mechanic; he would later become a district trainer for Anderson Merchandising.
Scott enjoyed his time at home with family, tending to his gardens, playing video games, enjoying a good movie, or fishing alone or with friends. He will be missed by those who knew him.
Calling Hours will be on Tuesday, May 27, from 4 pm until 7 pm, in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be on Wednesday, May 28, at 10 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery.
