Sandra K. (Thiel) Bonnette, 71 of Brookfield, passed away at home surrounded by family after a long illness on Friday, May 5, 2023.
She leaves her brothers, Craig and his wife Donna of Illinois and Colorado and brother, Steven of Manchester, CT; her step-children, son, Daniel Bonnette and his wife Patricia of Worcester and daughter, Deborah Bonnette of Leicester; her grandchildren, Daniel and Megan Veroneau and Ryan and Ashley Bonnette who were the apple of her eye. She is predeceased by her brother, Robert, her step-mother, Rosemary and the “love of her life,” her husband David.
Sandra was born in Crystal, Minnesota on December 18, 1959, daughter of the late Theodore “Ted” and Fern (Olson) Thiel. She graduated from Robbinsdale High School and attended Junior College where she earned her associates of arts degree before moving to Alabama for several years. She later moved home to be near family. After marrying David, they lived in Worcester for several years where she worked for Jamesbury Corporation and Chess King as an IT Clerk before moving to Ripley, WV where they spent the next 25 years. They both retired from the US Postal Service in Charleston before returning home to Massachusetts.
Sandra loved to travel, and she and David had many adventures from Alaska to Hawaii. One of her favorite destinations was Disney for which she maintained a childlike exuberance. She also loved cats, roses, butterflies, and purple but by far her joy came from family. Whether getting into mischief with her sisters-in-law, Judy, and Betty, or hanging with David and his brother Richard and his wife Sue or family time with her kids and grandchildren, these were her most treasured times. Sandra also loved spending time with her friend Christine who brought so much light to her life in the last few months. She will be dearly missed.
After cremation, she will return to West Virginia and will be laid to rest with her husband David. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, Worcester is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Neady Cats, 215 Worcester Rd., Sterling MA. 01564
