Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Ronald P. and Irene (Pinard) O’Brien. Ron grew up in Worcester, where he graduated from North High School, Class of 1979, and later attended Quinsigamond Community College before moving to Leicester.
Ron was a master builder throughout his entire adult life and was the proud owner and operator of CMRC Quality Builders, Inc. Known for his craftsmanship, he was a deeply kind-hearted man who would always step up to help those in need, frequently lending his time, skills, and generous spirit to friends, family, and neighbors alike.
An avid outdoorsman, Ron felt most at home when he was by the water. His favorite pastimes included boating, fishing, and scuba diving. He also possessed a great passion for golf and was a long-time member of Hillcrest Country Club, where he enjoyed countless rounds of golf and camaraderie with his many close friends. Ron also had a profound love for all animals, opening his heart to rescue numerous pets of all different species throughout his lifetime.
Ron is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Collier and her husband JJ of Rockland, and Tara Burroughs and her husband Bradley of Charlton; his lifelong love and the mother of his children, Deborah J. O’Brien; two sisters, Eileen Roughan and her husband Timothy of East Brookfield, and Jennifer Andrews of Spencer; three cherished grandchildren, Emma, Anna, and Quinn Collier; and his dog and loyal companion, Zoe. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Beside his parents, Ron was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Gregg Andrews, and his two beloved dogs, Maverick and Roscoe.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, immediately followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ron's name may be made to the ASPCA or to Who Says I Can’t, two foundations that were very close to his heart.
