Roger Charles Carroll

Roger Charles Carroll, 83, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully Saturday March 21st, 2026, after a period of declining health.

Roger was born in Worcester, the son of George H. and Mary Katherine (Lynch) Carroll. He was raised in Worcester after High School joined the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, wearing the cloth of his country proudly for four years. Upon discharge and return home, Roger, served with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office as a corrections officer and the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority. He then owned and operated a yellow cab in the city before retiring.

Roger is survived by three daughters, Kelly McCarthy and her life partner Kristofer McDaniel of West Brookfield, Erin Steffens and her husband Leo in Bedford N.H., Tracy Carroll and her husband Joseph Sudol of Worcester; five grandchildren. Two brothers, his principal caretaker and devoted brother, George Carroll and his wife Donna of Jacksonville, FL, and John Carroll of Plymouth. Two sisters, Mary Taft and Sheila McDonald, both predeceased him. Many nieces, nephews, extended family members.

Roger lived a quiet life, mostly living in the shadows and gaining many friends he met while driving. Roger was an Irish Shanchaie of the first order!

A funeral service with full military honors will be held Thursday, March 26th at 2 pm in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Winchendon MA. There are no calling hours.
