Robert A. Shertick, Sr., 74, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at UMass Memorial Medical Center on Belmont Street in Worcester. He is survived by his loving son Robert “Bobby” Shertick, Jr. and his husband Joe Mazza of Charlton; siblings, Jane Shertick, Rita Shertick, and Joseph Shertick; and nieces and nephews Stacey, Stephanie, Justin, Jason, Rose and Hannah. He was predeceased by his brother Paul Shertick.
Bob was born in Boston on September 16, 1951, son of the late Joseph and Valeria (Petrulis) Shertick. He worked for 25 years as a clerk for the RMV. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as part of the US Army.
Bob was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including doing puzzles, watching TV, taking the dogs for a walk, and doing yardwork. He was a self-proclaimed electrician and would help everyone with electrical work who needed it. He enjoyed this very much. In his free time, Bob loved to take long drives in his Cadillac.
A calling hour will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 12:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name may be made to the VFW.
