Robert J. Eldredge, 79 of West Boylston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born in Worcester, a son of the late Robert A. and Barbara (Bennett) Eldredge. He grew up in the Coburn Avenue area of Worcester. He was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester. After high school Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country from 1965-1969. He worked as a police officer for the City of Worcester before retiring in 2010. Prior to the police department Bob worked at the Worcester County House of Correction for many years. In Bob’s spare time, he enjoyed camping, going to the beaches in Maine, vacationing at Disney World and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Barre Rod and Gun Club where he served as past president and a member of the American Legion Post 204.
Robert is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carmen M. (Maruca) Eldredge; his son, Robert J. Eldredge, Jr. of Barre; three daughters, Deborah Shallow and her husband Kurt of Chatham, Natalya Eldredge and Gabriella Eldredge both of West Boylston; two grandchildren, Casey & Cody; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael and Robin Sacco of West Boylston and Paul and Deborah Maruca of Auburn; a sister-in-law, Faith Maruca of Worcester, a mother-in-law Carol Maruca-Brennan of Worcester; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother, James Eldredge.
Robert was most grateful for the loving care he received from his daughters Natalya & Gabriella. It gave him such comfort to be with his girls.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, May 22, 2026 from 4-7 pm immediately followed by his funeral service at 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.
