Robert “Bob” F. Camarra, 77, of Worcester, passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Rose M. (Catino) Camarra; their three daughters, Jennifer L. Salyers and her husband Scott of Burbank, CA, Jillian H. Valentine and her husband Tom of Holden, and Julie A. Eggers of Honolulu, HI; six grandchildren, Raymond, Austin, Bella, Brayden, Abby, and Grace. He is also survived by his sister, MaryEllen DeCaro of Englewood, FL; stepsiblings Mary Anne Pangakis of Wake Forest, NC and Edmund P. Orciuch of Falmouth; nieces and nephews. Bob was born in Worcester, son of the late, Guerin “Bill” Camarra and Harriet (Peters) Camarra. He was predeceased by his stepmother, Sonja Camarra. Bob graduated from Saint John’s High School and later received his bachelor’s degree from Worcester State University and received a master’s degree from Anna Maria College.
Bob worked as an Industrial Engineer for Saint-Gobain. He had previously worked for many years at Nichols and Stone Furniture in Gardner, and began his engineering career at Norton Company in Worcester, having gone full circle before retiring in 2018. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, where he organized the annual ski trip when his daughters were part of the C.Y.C. He was a coach with Jesse Burkett Softball for many years. He enjoyed skiing, tennis, and golfing. He was a member of Dennis Pines Country Club on Cape Cod and had been an active member in the Hahnemann Golf League.
He had a joy for food and cooking and was fondly referred to by his family as “Food Man”. His family enjoyed his cooking so much that his daughters would often reach out to him for advice or to walk them through a recipe.
Bob marked his retirement by purchasing his lifelong dream of his prized 1962 Corvette. Bob and Rose spent their retirement taking family vacations and spending as much time as they could at their home on The Cape. However, his favorite place to be was in his “comfy corner” watching and quoting his favorite sitcoms and movies like National Lampoon’s “Animal House, “Vacation” and “Christmas Vacation”. He especially loved Seinfeld, was a proud supporter of the “Human Fund” and every December celebrated Festivus.
Throughout the years, Bob and Rose enjoyed many great friendships with long-time friends including their “Supper Club”, Bob and Patty, Maureen and Paul, and the Crowley’s (Joanne and Paul) who both recently passed away.
