Robert Charles Calo Sr, 88, of Worcester, passed away peacefully at Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Worcester on November 27th, with his loving daughter at his side and surrounded by his loving family.
Robert is predeceased by his daughter MaryAnn Calo and his wife Ruth Ann (Cournoyer) Calo.
He leaves behind his son Robert Calo, Jr. of Worcester MA, daughter Jeana (Calo) Gemme and her husband Adam Gemme, Sr. of Worcester, son Michael Calo and his wife Kristen of Denver, CO. His four grandsons along with many nieces and nephews.
Robert was a cook in the Army based at Fort Dix, NJ and Fort Banks, Boston. He brought his skills to the Italian Kitchen and White City Diner in Worcester, MA. He worked for many years at New England Grocers. His journey then brought him to WS Beauty and Nabhan’s Beauty Supply. Robert began his final journey with the Worcester Housing Authority and retired from there.
Robert enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra and watching The Godfather every Christmas morning. He loved going to Foxwoods and playing cards.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lutheran and the staff at Overlook/Care Central for their care of Robert with a special thank you to Kris Helm.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 9:30a.m. until his Funeral Service at 10:30a.m. at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
