Rita (Cappabianca) Sharameta, 94, of Worcester, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023, in her home.
Rita is survived by her devoted husband of sixty years, Richard Sharameta; many nieces and nephews, including Joseph Cappabianca, her primary caregiver; great nieces and great nephews; and her dear friend for over eighty years, Miranda Cariglia. She was predeceased by four siblings, Antoinette Mobilio, Michelena DeVerdi, Carmella Houlihan, and Joseph Cappabianca. Rita was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Pasquale and Anna M. (Olieveri) Cappabianca and has lived here all her life. She graduated from the former Commerce High School.
Rita worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Ivy League Furniture, and before that Independent Plating; she retired in 1993. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and the Golden Years group. She enjoyed candlepin bowling, BINGO, and “The Wonder of It All”.
Her family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Eisenberg for their care and compassion; they made her feel comfortable and as if she was in her own home.
Her family will have Calling Hours on Thursday morning, February 23, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, then departing at 10:40 a.m. in procession to an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Eisenberg Assisted Living Activity Fund, 631 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
