Boylston

Richard R. Tuccio (Fat Dicky), 77, of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep Monday, April 1, 2024, after a period of declining health.

Born in Worcester on January 23, 1947, Richard was the son of the late Jeremiah and Rose (Principe) Tuccio.  Raised in Worcester, Richard attended Commerce High School and lived in Worcester all his life until residing in Boylston with his family.  He loved to cook and serve the public, owning and operating several restaurants over the years, including Acapulco Mexican Restaurant, Chicken and Ribs Express, and Fat Dickies BBQ.

He is survived by his four children, Richard Tuccio Jr of Shrewsbury, Angela Germain and her husband James of Boylston, Julian Galindo of Worcester, and Andrew Tuccio and his wife Stephanie of Worcester.  He was an extremely proud and loving Papa to Sophia Germain, Antony Germain, and Marco Germain, with whom he lived during his final years.  He was also a proud grandfather to Ashley Hanlon, Randall Lamoureux, Isabella Galindo, Abigail Tuccio, Emily Stone-Jones, Andrew Tuccio, Jr., Noah Waterman, Reece Waterman, and Michael Waterman.  In addition to his parents, He was predeceased by siblings Matthew Tuccio, Jeremiah Tuccio, Angelo Tuccio, and Maryann Zona.

Richard was the patriarch of his family, and nothing in life was more important than his children and grandchildren; they always made him the happiest.  Richard had a quick wit and an undeniable sense of humor.  He loved to cheat at cards and drive his Lincoln station wagon with a broken gas gauge while declaring, “We’re Gonna Run out of gas!”  His kids never knew when he was joking or serious, as his car occasionally ran out of gas.

A period of Calling Hours will be held Thursday, April 4th, from 4:00 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.  A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 5, at 10 am in the funeral home, interment will follow at 11 a.m. at Saint John’s Cemetery in Worcester.
