Richard Parretti passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024, surrounded by his family at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester. He was 89 years old.

Richard is survived by his life partner and soul mate of forty years, Judith (Walker) Hanna, and his sons Stephen Parretti and his wife Lynn of Leicester, John Parretti and his wife Shay of Worcester. He is also survived by his daughters Lorraine Parretti-Crete and her husband James (Richard’s coffee and donut man) of West Boylston and Dina Parretti and her partner Robert Erickson of Holden. He also leaves Judy’s son Jeffrey Hanna and his wife Vikki of Margate, FL. Richard was a loving grandfather to eight grandchildren, Jillian and her husband Dan, Stephanie, Jessica, Kimberly, Shane, Anthony, Elizabeth, and Kristen. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: James, Elliot, and Evan. Richard is also survived by his brother Robert Parretti of Worcester, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was predeceased by three brothers, Lawrence, William, and Vincent Parretti, and by his step-father, Russ Leard.

His childhood was marked by the early loss of his father Nicholas, leaving his mother, Mary (DiLeo) Parretti, to raise him and his four brothers—Lawrence, William, Vincent, and Robert—as a single Italian immigrant. Richard cherished his upbringing on Fales Street in Worcester and was immensely proud of the resilience and strength displayed by his mother and brothers.

All five Parretti brothers served in the United States Military, with Richard proudly serving in the United States Army. His brother Major Lawrence Parretti was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, a testament to their family’s commitment to service and patriotism. After serving his country in the United States Army, Richard began working at Norton Company, eventually retiring after 35+ years with the position of General Supervisor.

In retirement, Richard and Judith shared a passion for travel, with trips to Italy holding a special place in their hearts. Richard enjoyed recounting stories of his time at Norton Company, reminiscing fondly about his experiences and friendships made during his career. He also indulged in his love for antiquing, owning a shop in Shrewsbury alongside his brother Vincent and maintaining a booth at the Brimfield Flea Market. Judith shared his passion and the two often attended antique auctions together throughout New England.

Richard found great joy in caring for his home and spent many happy hours tending to his yard. He took pride in creating a welcoming environment where his grandchildren and great-grandchildren could play and make lasting memories. During the winter months, Richard and Judith enjoyed the warmth of Florida, further enriching their retirement years together.

Richard will be remembered for his kindness, his strength of character, and his unwavering love for his family.
