In Loving Memory of Richard J. Orabone, Jr.March 1967 – April 2025
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Richard J. Orabone, Jr., 58, of Massachusetts, who died peacefully in April 2025 after a long and courageous journey with a rare progressive illness diagnosed in 2016. He is now reunited in eternal peace with his father.
Originally from Rhode Island, Richard earned a degree in Anthropology and Music from the University of Rhode Island. He built a fulfilling 20-year career in technology and science, where he was largely self-taught as a network engineer.
Richard married the love of his life, Randy. Not long into their marriage, he began experiencing early symptoms of a rare neurological illness that would gradually reshape their lives. Throughout it all, Randy remained his steadfast partner, caregiver, and source of unconditional love and strength.
Richard was a devoted husband and father. His greatest joy was his son, who carries forward his legacy. He is also survived by his mother, Jeanne, and his sister Mary Lynn, her husband Ken, and their son Nicholas, along with extended family and dear friends who loved him deeply.
He will be remembered for his calm presence, brilliant mind, and gentle soul. Though quiet in demeanor, he was endlessly curious and passionate about life—delighting in music, science, food, and art. He loved computer simulations, learning languages, playing instruments, and exploring the mysteries of the universe. A fan of Star Trek and timeless films, Richard appreciated creativity, complexity, and wit.
His life was a quiet symphony of intellect, creativity, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of thoughtfulness, resilience, and wonder.
