Richard M. Gamache, 89, passed away surrounded by his family at the Life Care Center of Auburn on April 23, 2024
He was born in Worcester, MA. on May 23, 1934. The son of the late Maurice and Rita (Richards) Gamache.
He is survived by his son Richard and his wife Laura. His daughter Monique and her husband Mark. His former wife, Mary (Chianese) Gamache. His grandchildren, two sisters, Aline Blanchard and Roberta Watson and his brother Daniel and his wife Debbie. He leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his son, Steven Gamache, his brother Lauren and his wife, Mary Gamache, and his stepmother, Martha Gamache.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. Upon his discharge, he worked as a master plasterer until he became a police officer for the Worcester Police Department. He was a proud lifetime member of the Marine Corps League.
After his retirement, he moved to New Hampshire, where he made many friends.
The family would like to sincerely thank all the Life Care Center of Auburn staff and the New England Hospice staff. Your care and compassion helped guide us all these years.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Monday, April 29th, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., before proceeding in procession to St. George Parish, 38 Brattle St., Worcester where his celebration of life Mass will be held at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the Worcester Marine Corps League, 181 Lake Ave., Worcester, MA 01604
