Raymond Leo Dupuis, 72, of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, formerly of Auburn, known as a “Gentile Giant”, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025, with the “Love of his Life” Roberta by his side.
Raymond was born in Worcester, the son of Norman and Florence (Belculfine) Dupuis. He grew up in Auburn and graduated from Worcester Boys trade class of 1972. Raymond then began a life as a talented Cabinet Maker, road crew worker, and head chef before retiring. He started as a cabinet maker before, accepting a road crew position with traveling bands such as Zonkaraz, The Trailers, Kim Page Band, Preston Porter, and Down East. Ray was also a Head Chef, for Paul Vuona’s Firehouse Café many years. In 2006, Raymond and Roberta moved to North Carolina where they have lived for the past 19 years.
Ray is survived by his devoted wife Roberta; a son, Kevin M. Dupuis, and his wife Julie; a grandson Kevin A. Dupuis, and his wife Maddy; five great grandchildren; a sister, Marie Brissette; two brothers, Edward Dupuis and his wife Nancy, and Robert Dupuis; many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Raymond was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. A larger man, he was known as a “Gentile Giant” able to diffuse any sticky situation with a few whispered words. He was an avid fishman, who loved to cook, watch the sunrises and sunsets of Ocean Isle, North Carolina, the holidays, special occasions and family gatherings.
A period of calling hours will be held Monday, October 6th from 10 am to 11:30 am followed by a service in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. In lieu of flowers donations in his name can be made to the Massachusetts ASPCA, http://www.mspca.org/donate.
