Phyllis B. (Markiewicz) Wielgoreski

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Phyllis B. (Markiewicz) Wielgoreski, 97, of Grafton, on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was the beloved wife of the late, Chester J. Wielgoreski, sharing 56 years of marriage until his passing in 2007.

Born in Worcester, in October of 1928, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Joseph and Stella (Kulesza) Markiewicz. She attended St. Mary’s High School in Worcester, was the receptionist at Leo’s Hair Salon and later the bookkeeper at Bay State Window Washing Company. Phyllis enjoyed dancing the polka, working in her home’s flower gardens as well as lunches with friends and family. In her younger days, she enjoyed shopping and finding great deals on fashion. Lately, trips to the casino and playing Keno were among her favorite things to do. She will be remembered for her quiet strength, willpower to get things done and genuine support of family and friends.

Phyllis is survived by her loving daughter, Debbie and her husband, Thomas Sasso of Grafton; nephews, cousins and dear friends. Phyllis was predeceased by her brothers Richard and Ronald Markiewicz; her sisters Lorraine Gancarz, Dorothy Friedgen and Regina Dirsa.

Though Phyllis is no longer with us, we will forever miss her and will carry her in our heart in all that we do.
