Phyllis (Loughlin) Brennan

August 26, 1931 — March 19, 2023

Phyllis A. (Loughlin) Brennan, 91, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Florida and Grafton, passed away Sunday, March 19th 2023, with the family she loved gathered by her side after a period of declining health.

Phyllis was born in Worcester, the daughter of Irish immigrants Thomas and Mary J. (Callinan) Loughlin.  Raised in Worcester, Phyllis graduated from Commerce High.   In 1965, she married William V. Brennan, and they began their life and family, in Worcester, Grafton, Matunuck RI and Ocala Florida.   Phyllis worked in the insurance administration of Travelers Insurance company before retiring. 

Phyllis is survived by her husband of over 57 years, William V. Brennan; a daughter, Jennifer McCarthy and her life partner, Peter Dimitry of Shrewsbury, a stepdaughter, Kathleen Eisnor and her husband, Vernon of Scarborough Maine; four grandchildren, Gianna, Christopher, Alicia, Nicole and her husband Todd; three great grandchildren, Chase, Colt, & Alivia; Nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

Phyllis was a longtime member of St Mary’s Church in North Grafton.  She enjoyed meeting friends daily at the Grafton Donut Shop, eating out, visiting with her neighbors from Grafton and in her Ocala Florida community where they had monthly community events and nightly gatherings outside.  Phyllis loved her animals over the years both cats and dogs, she loved reading, the beach and the warm sun of Matunuck RI and the warm Florida life.  She was an impeccably dressed women, with not a piece of clothing, hair or cosmetic out of place.  That also spilled over to her homes where she took great pride in decorating. Anyone that knew Phyllis could tell you she had a saying for everything!  Above all, she cherished and took great pride in her family.  Her greatest moments in life will be remembered as those spent during the holidays, special occasions, and special family dinners. She was always very proud of any of her family’s accomplishments. 

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Thursday, March 23rd from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.  Her funeral will be held Friday, from the funeral home with a procession beginning at 9:50 to St Mary’s Street, 17 Waterville Street, N.Grafton where  her celebration of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am.  Burial will be in St John’s Cemetery.
