Peter B. Favata

January 2, 1939 — August 6, 2022

Peter Benjamin Favata, of Holden, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on August 6, 2022, after a brief illness.

Known to his beloved grandchildren as “Grampy”, Peter was born on January 2, 1939 to Clement and Phyllis Favata in Schenectady, New York.  After graduating from Union College in Schenectady, Peter began work as an insurance adjuster where he excelled for over six decades, working right up to the time of his passing.

During college Peter met Janet Ward while both worked summer restaurant jobs at Lake George, NY.  They quickly fell in love and married in 1961, and had two children, Lori, now a lawyer residing in Northborough, MA, and Peter (aka Chip), a mortgage banker residing in Worcester.

Peter loved his family, the Red Sox, Dunkin Donuts, fishing, word games, mayonnaise, and telling of his great adventures growing up in World War II era Schenectady.  In turn Peter was loved for his immediate congeniality, and especially his great humor and quick wit.  He quickly befriended all those he met, and he will be missed by many.

He is predeceased by his sister Annette of Niskayuna, NY, and survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet, his two children Lori and Peter, grandchildren Jennifer and Kelsey Flood, both of Boston, Max Favata of Worcester, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Peter’s life will be planned for the Fall.
