Peggy K. (Knott) Glowacki, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael J. Glowacki.
Peggy is survived by her loving daughters, Nancy Paulauskas and her husband Todd of North Grafton; Karen Stratford and her husband Josh of Goffstown, NH and their children Taylor & Tori Paulauskas and Cole & Sophia Stratford.
Peggy also shared a special bond with her stepdaughter Karyn Wagner and her husband Mark of Boylston; and children Casey & Benjamin Wagner and Linda Findlay and her husband Jeff of Northampton and children; Jack, Emma and Lila Findlay.
Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Ellen (Doctor) Knott and sister of the late Peter J Knott. After graduating from Warwick Veterans High School in Warwick, RI, Peggy attended Western College for Women in Oxford, Ohio where she achieved a degree in Psychology. She continued her education at Worcester State University where she graduated with a Masters in Early Childhood Education.
Peggy had a passion for helping children learn. She started her career at Clinton Elementary School in MA as a 1st grade teacher. She then moved to upstate New York (Clifton Park, NY) where she stayed home to raise her young daughters, but was always active in the community as President of the Women’s Club.
During the next phase of her career, she took the leap to teach at the college level, where she helped shape the next generation of teachers at Skidmore College and the College of St Rose. Peggy fueled her passion of helping children learn when she became the Director of a small K-8 independent school in Saratoga Springs, NY. This school allowed her to create a new environment where students became independent learners and thinkers. Peggy ended her career at Fitchburg State University in MA when she decided to move closer to her family and grandchildren.
As Peggy approached retirement, she accepted an opportunity at Montachusett Home Health, as volunteer coordinator, providing rides for elderly clients, where she was fortunate to create many long lasting friendships.
Later in life, Peggy opened the door to learning about her biological family as she was adopted as an infant. She was surprised to discover she was one of 14 children. She traveled to meet her sister, Shirley Cleveland, at her home in NC and she forged a special bond with her brother, John Anderson and wife Joy, of Lake Pleasant, MA.
Peggy was always happy to lose herself in a book or to try her luck at the casino, but family was her cherished priority above all. She formed a unique bond with her grandchildren, demonstrating a deep understanding of each grandchild’s personality and supporting what they enjoyed. She looked forward to annual family vacations to the Rhode Island beaches and was always the one to uphold fun holiday traditions. She created lifelong memories for her loved ones.
Calling hours will be held for Peggy from 12pm-2pm on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Memorial Service following at 2pm.
