Paula Pelletier, 80, of Worcester, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 16th.
Born and raised in Worcester, Paula spent her life in the city she called home. She devoted herself to raising her family and caring for her home, and later worked as an administrative assistant to a physician at UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Paula was a gifted cook and baker — the kind who couldn't let anyone leave her home without something to eat. She loved to host, and there was rarely a family gathering that didn't include something she'd baked. But her true gift was for people: she was endlessly warm, humble, and easy to talk to, and she had a way of making everyone around her feel like the most important person in the room. She was selfless, always more concerned with the people she loved than with herself.
She treasured time with her children, grandchildren — who called her Mémère — and her brothers and sisters, and she was a devoted mother and grandmother in every sense — present, caring, and deeply loved in return. She found quiet joy in her garden, and caring for flowers of all kinds. She loved listening to music, and was a lifelong devotee of Bob Dylan, whose music was a constant companion throughout her life and meant a great deal to her.
Paula was predeceased by her husband, Paul Pelletier, Jr., who died in 2007. She is survived by her three children, Paul Pelletier and his wife Heidi; Nicole Pelletier; and Amy Servidio and her husband Frank; her four grandchildren, Lindsay, Matthew, Ava, and Tristan, whom she adored; and several brothers and sisters, along with many nieces and nephews.
Paula will be remembered for her warmth, her humility, her cooking, and the love she gave so freely and so completely to everyone around her. She will be deeply, deeply missed.
