Paula M. Esper, 71, of Worcester, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Paula is survived by her three daughters Tara DiTaranto and her fiancé Dan, Janna DiTaranto, and Alana Giagni and her husband Stephen; her three sisters Phyllis Callan and her husband Steven, Linda Esper, Maria Schramm and her husband Richard. She was the proud grandmother of Chad, Isabella, and Stephen Jr.She also leaves behind many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Paula was born in Worcester, MA, daughter of the late Robert Esper and Isabella (Cicero) Esper Sabacinski. Paula attended North High School and graduated in 1973. She was a member of the cheerleading squad and had remained close friends throughout her life.
Paula was a Nurse Practitioner. She received her Associate’s Degree in nursing at Quinsigamond Community College. She acquired her Bachelor of Nursing education at Worcester State University. Paula then earned her Master’s Degree in nursing from University of Massachusetts. Paula was a compassionate, dedicated, and hardworking medical professional for over 40 years. She loved being a Nurse Practitioner and caring for her patients, families, and the community.
Growing up Paula enjoyed fashion and sewing. She would create one of a kind outfits for herself and her sisters. She liked to dance, laugh, watch movies, take trips to the beach, and sing karaoke. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family and friends whom she loved deeply. Paula was generous and kind hearted to everyone she encountered. Her memory will remain in the hearts of her family and friends and those who had the honor to know her.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours from 4pm-6pm on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, MA. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Monday, October 5, 2026 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Our Lady of Loreto Parish, 37 Massasoit Rd., Worcester, MA. Burial will follow in St. John’s cemetery.
