Paul E. Higgins

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Paul E. Higgins, 55, of Worcester, on Monday, December 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Worcester on April 21, 1970, Paul was one of ten children born to Daniel and Maureen (Friel) Higgins. Graduate of Burncoat High School. He attended Assumption College where he studied Business and Political Science.

Paul will be remembered for his profound love of family, which guided everything he did and grounded every chapter of his life. He was renowned for his appreciation of music, whether listening, going to concerts, or sharing a favorite song, and for his passion for travel. He embraced new places, cultures, and experiences with a curious and open heart. Paul’s quick wit and warm sense of humor could light up a room, and his intelligence was evident in his thoughtful conversations and wide-ranging interests. He lived fully, loved deeply, and leaves behind memories that will be cherished always.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara (Dusoe) Higgins; his loving stepchildren, Breanna and Jake; his dear siblings, Maureen Iliopoulos, Eileen Higgins, Daniel Higgins, Michael Higgins, John Higgins, Kathleen Sigrist, and Matthew Higgins; his cherished lifelong best friend, Michael Dunphy; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sadly, in addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his sister, Anne Higgins and his brother, David Higgins.

Though Paul is no longer with us, the space he filled in our lives remains immeasurable. We will forever miss him, yet we will carry him with us always—in the music he loved, in the journeys we take, and in every shared memory that brings his smile to mind.

A Memorial Gathering will be held for Paul on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 11:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
