U.S. Navy veteran Paul A. Duran, 79 of Sutton, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025 after a long, difficult struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. He leaves behind his wife of fifty-two years Patricia (Wood) Duran, his daughter and son-in-law Kristen and Scott Richards, with whom he lived, and his grandchildren Dalton and Shelby Richards and her fiance Tim Gover. His daughter Keri passed away in 1995. His brothers Eddie and Richard also predeceased him.
Paul was born in Cambridge to Lucie Theriault. He moved to Westborough as a teenager to live with his uncle and aunt Bill and Jeanne Ure and their six children Diane, John, Janet, Jeanne, Barbara and Karen. He attended Westborough High School before joining the Navy. He served from 1962 to 1966 aboard the aircraft carriers USS Randolph and USS Essex. He married Pat in 1973 and became an instant stepfather to her two daughters, but they asked him to become their dad and he officially adopted them in 1986. He lived in Westborough and Shrewsbury for many years. Paul was a proud Teamster union member as a truck driver. He also worked at the Sweet Life warehouse for years, and as a meat cutter, a cook, and a limousine driver. He loved all Boston sports teams, was a fantastic cook, and would never say no to a Bacardi and Coke. He was a member of Brown Square Civic Club and The American Legion Dudley-Gendron Post.
We would like to thank the staff at Brookside Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Webster where Paul spent the last year of his life. Their kindness and skill supported him and his family during a very difficult time.
