Patricia “Pat” (Doyle) Palumbo, 78, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away at home surrounded by the family she loved Thursday, June 22, 2023, after a valiant battle with Cancer.
Patricia was born in Worcester, one of six children of Andrew and Jeannette (Pelletier) Doyle. Raised here, she graduated from Saint Stephen Central Catholic High School and earned her certificate in respiratory therapy at St Vincent’s Hospital. On June 28th, 1969, Patricia married the “love of her life” and soulmate, Angelo Palumbo. Together they devoted the next 54 years to each other, their friends and especially their family, with love, faith and dedication. Patricia worked as a baker for the city of Worcester school department at Burncoat Middle School before retiring.
Pat is survived by her love, Angelo and four children she cherished: Maria I. Isabelle and her husband Stephen of Holden, Stefano “Steve” Palumbo and his wife Kerry of Auburn, Gina Palumbo and her husband Bill Minkema of Worcester and Andy Palumbo and his wife Marcie of Paxton. She also leaves seven grandchildren she adored: Eliana, Nicholas, Jonathan, Jenna, Andrew Jr., Lucas, and Charlie. Pat additionally leaves five siblings, Nancy Cashman and her husband Bob, Jean Morrissey and her late husband Jack, Andrew Doyle and his wife Dottie- all of Shrewsbury, Jack Doyle of Hingham, Kathy Doyle and her husband Charles Donahue of Swampscott and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Her faith was of the utmost importance to her as a long-time member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Our Lady of Loreto Parish. She was also a member of the Sons of Italy, and she enjoyed time with her friends at the Red Hat Club. She enjoyed playing bocci with the ‘Ball-Busters’ team and playing cards with the family. Pat was a selfless woman who devoted her entire life to her family. She always put her husband, children, grandchildren and family first no matter what. They were the center of her world. Pat was happiest being home cooking and baking for them. Some of her frequent requests from her grandchildren ‘The Lucky 7’ were homemade bread, lemon cookies, tarallis and homemade pasta with ‘Nonna’s sauce’. She enjoyed many summers with her family in Falmouth and Dennisport on Cape Cod and winters in Florida. Pat also enjoyed her yearly weekend trips and Christmas shopping in Maine with her daughters and grandchildren.
Patricia’s greatest moments in life were those spent with her grandchildren, whether babysitting, sleepovers, watching them on the beach, coloring Easter eggs, decorating cookies, any and all special occasions when they were all around her. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
