Norma (Tagliaferri) Caron, 95, of Northborough, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Worcester. She is reunited in Heaven with her husband, Dr. Roland R. Caron and their son, Christopher R. Caron.
Born and raised in Fitchburg, Norma was the daughter of Neno and Carmeline (Delmolino) Tagliaferri. She was a graduate from Fitchburg High School and St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing. After graduating, she met her husband Roland and wed in 1955. They were married for 51 years until his passing in 2006. Norma was a loving wife and mother who dedicated her life to raising six children and instilling in them love, integrity, morality, patience, and the love of God.
Norma was a member of Saint Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury where she attended daily Mass, worked in the rectory, the human services thrift store, and was a Eucharistic Minister. Saint Anne’s Church influenced her life by offering spirituality and giving her the opportunity to be of service to others. She and her husband were members of the International Wine and Food Society. She was also a member of numerous fine art boards, including the Worcester Art Museum and founding member of the Edna Hibel Society. In addition, they established the Christopher R. Caron Scholarship Fund at Assumption College.
Norma is survived by her children, Dr. Cynthia (Caron) Poole and her late husband Dr. Michael Poole, Matthew J. Caron, Anthony J. Caron, Roland R. Caron, Jr. and Elena Mahoney, and Justin Caron and his wife Sara. She was the proud grandmother of ten; Anthany Richard Caron and Andrea Mercado, Olivia Garwrych and her husband Daniel Garwrych, Emily O’Connor and husband Kyle O’Connor and Julia Caron, Madelline, Grace, and Henry Poole, Christopher and Calvin Caron, and Roland Caron, III. She was also blessed with six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, twin sister, Nancy Genelli, and by her brothers, John and Joseph Tagg.
Calling Hours for Norma will be on Wednesday, December 17, from 4 pm until 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral will be on Thursday, December 18, with a procession departing the funeral home at 9:40 am enroute to a 10 am Funeral Mass at Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road, (route 9 east), Shrewsbury. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
