Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sadness, and hearts forever changed, that we announce the passing of Ninozka “Nina” Delacruz-Rodomista, 71, of Newton, who was called home to the Lord on Thursday, July 30, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Born March 7, 1955, in Huancayo, Peru, Nina was the daughter of the late Crescencio Delacruz and Dora Meza, and later immigrated to the United States in 1993. Intelligent, hardworking, and quietly determined, Nina left everything familiar behind to bring her family to a new country, a new culture, and a new language. And she didn’t just survive that leap, she excelled, building a fruitful life for her family in Worcester, while devoting nearly 30 years to a career as a social worker with the Department of Children and Families. In her later years, after retirement, Nina truly came into her own: a petite, girly girl at heart, she carried herself with effortless grace and poise, moved across the dance floor with elegance, and, alongside her husband, traveled to breathtaking corners of the world. She was given the wedding of her dreams and celebrated a grand 70th birthday surrounded by everyone she loved. Nina didn’t just grow older, she grew more radiant, more graceful, more unmistakably herself.

Nina is survived by her devoted husband, Guy Rodomista; her loving children, Christian Garcia, Ninozka “Nina” Garcia-Vidal (and her husband Amin Vidal), Cesar Vega (and his wife Kanchana Vega), Roobye Vega, and Addison Rodomista (and his wife Vy Rodomista); her nine adored grandchildren, Jovann Vega, Arianna Sierra, Luciana Garcia Durand, Roxana Vega, Lucia Vidal, Rafaela Vega, Kaleb Vega, Lucas Vidal, and Soliana Vega; her seven beloved siblings, Oscar Delacruz, Maria Laba, Ramon Delacruz, Miriam Foley, Diana Matheson, Ibar Delacruz, and Karelt Delacruz; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

We will miss Nina immensely but her warm heart and love for us will live forever in our hearts.

Calling hours for Nina will be held on Monday, August 3, from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Funeral Mass will be held in Sacred Heart Parish, 1321 Centre Street, Newton, on Tuesday, August 4 at 10:30 a.m. The burial and meal following the service will be private and reserved for family only.
