Nina (Pusateri) Sweet, 87, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 with her loving family by her side. She is survived by her four children- Frank Sweet, Jr, Maria Sweet, Brian Sweet with whom she lived, Clifford Sweet and his wife Tracey all of Worcester; five grandchildren from who she drew so much love and inspiration- Clifford, Christina, Nina and her husband Christopher, Jamie, and Nicole; seven great grandchildren- Nicolas, Melina, Carmela, Audrey, Frank III, Little Cliff, and Noella; sisters-in-law Betty Ann Pusateri and Mary Pusateri; her beloved dog Bobo; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Nina was predeceased by the love of her life of 57 years Retired Worcester Fire Lt. Frank E. Sweet in 2017, and her siblings; Frank “Lanky” Pusateri Sr and his wife Helen, Anthony Pusateri, Vincent “Winky” Pusateri, Rosemary Pusateri, Eleanor R. Dell’Olio and her husband Vincenzo, and Joseph “Puzzy” Pusateri and his wife Jean.
Nina was born in Worcester on July 16, 1939, daughter of the late Joseph J. and Rose (DiBlasi) Pusateri. She grew up in Worcester and was proud to have spent her entire life living in the same neighborhood. She was very crafty and worked as a ceramics teacher in a ceramics shop for quite some time. She also worked as a telephone operator for six years. She was a former member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and was a talented sewer. Above all, Nina was truly the best mother and grandmother. Her family was the light of her life and her source of happiness.
Family and friends are invited for a period of visitation on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 9:30am to 11:30am at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 11:30am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester where Nina will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Frank.
