Listen to Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Newton Francisco De Aguiar, 78, of Worcester, on Sunday, June 21, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Tubarão, Santa Catarina, Brazil, on August 1, 1947, Newton was the son of the late Porfirio and Margarida (Vieira) De Aguiar.

Newton was a free spirit who lived life on his own terms. He had a deep love for soccer, traveling, and exploring new places. He never passed up an opportunity for adventure, whether it was a trip to somewhere new or simply getting in the car and enjoying the freedom of the open road. He loved driving, discovering new routes, and seeing where the day would take him. He will be remembered for his independent spirit, his sense of adventure, his love for the journey as much as the destination, and the many memories he created with those he loved. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the stories, laughter, and moments shared by family and friends.

Newton is survived by his loving daughter, Claudia De Aguiar De Oliveira, and her husband, Edivaldo de Oliveira, of Worcester; his adored grandchildren, Julie Holz and her husband, Jonathan Holz, of Worcester, and his beloved grandson, Noah de Oliveira, who preceded him in death and is dearly missed; his cherished sister, Neide De Aguiar, of Florianópolis, Brazil; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
