Michael McKeon, 69 of Athol passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Bear Mountain at Worcester with his loving family by his side. Michael was born in Manhattan, New York on October 27, 1952 and grew up in Millbury, Massachusetts. The son of the late James F and Jeanie T (Ferrie) McKeon.

Michael graduated from Rhode Island Trade Shops School and Quinsigamond Community College. Michael worked for many years at Grafton Job Corps and Lake Grove School in Wendell as an instructor in Basic Math, Electronics, and Landscaping. He also worked as a residential counselor and in recreation. Michael enjoyed working with young adults and helping them to attain their life goals.

Michael is survived by his wife of 44 years Melanie (Minasian) McKeon, and two daughters, Christel McKeon of Athol and Meghan Chiasson and her husband Corey of Florida, three granddaughters Izabell Burke, Alaina Chiasson, and Madison Chiasson. His siblings Peter J McKeon of Millbury, Timothy J McKeon and his wife Janet of Oxford, and Eileen McKeon LaLiberte of Shrewsbury, nieces, a nephew, a great nephew and many cousins.

The McKeon family wishes to thank the staff at Bear Mountain at Worcester for the many years of skilled and compassionate care they gave Michael. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in the memory of Michael be made to the Activities Fund at Bear Mountain of Worcester, 59 Acton Street, Worcester, MA 01604.

Calling hours for Michael will be held Saturday, January 29 from 1:00 – 2:30 PM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 PM  in the funeral home.
