Michael J. Calderaro, 92, of Worcester, formerly of Minnesott Beach, NC and Long Island, NY, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 16, 1931, to Anthony and Santa (LoForte) Calderaro. Raised in Brooklyn, Michael attended Abraham Lincoln High School. Michael completed two years at SUNY at Farmingdale, NY studying Electrical and Plumbing Works, and Advanced Mathematics courses.

Michael had worked at a business refinishing furniture with his future brother-in-law at Coney Island, NY. Both Michael and his brother-in-law Tony then enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1951; stationed at Cherry Point Marine Air Base, Havelock, NC. Michael was trained in aviation maintenance. It was there, at the Marine Base, that he met the love of his life, Lois. They were married 61 yrs. While raising their family, Michael was employed by United Airlines at Idlewild Airport, now JFK Airport maintaining aircraft. He was employed in later years at Republic Airfield, Gyrodyne, helicopter design and manufacturing, and Grumman Aerospace in Publications, assigned to writing pilot manuals for military planes, such as the F-14.

Sadly, in addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Lois (Ireland) Calderaro, Michael was predeceased by his siblings, John, Michael, and Marie Puma and Petrina Morano.

Michael was an extremely proud and loving father to Jan Calderaro of Worcester, Ralph A. Calderaro of Speonk, NY, and Michael J. Calderaro, Jr. and his wife Valerie of Eastport, NY. He is also survived by his cherished sister, Geraldine Italiano of East Setauket, NY; his adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
