Mel G. Fitzpatrick

Mel G. Fitzpatrick, 51 of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully in Ireland on Friday, June 12, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mel was born in Co. Galway. He grew up in Mohill, Co. Leitrim where he had many crazy adventures and made lifelong friends. He worked for many years at various construction and landscaping jobs until being diagnosed with cancer. Mel was a devoted father who loved spending time with his girls. He loved popular music (as long as it was made before 1990), motorcycles, nature documentaries, watching the Irish National Rugby team and spending time with friends. He made friends wherever he went, even during his final days in hospice. The man never met a stranger.

Mel is survived by his wife, Marisa (Ramos) Fitzpatrick; their two daughters, Ruby Kathryn Fitzpatrick and Frances Alice “Frankie” Fitzpatrick; his sister, Renee Fitzpatrick, brother Eugene Fitzpatrick, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Nuala Fitzpatrick.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Sunday June 28, 2026 from 4-6 pm with a memorial service to follow immediately at 6:00 pm in the MERCADANMTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will be held privately. Mel’s daughters ask that those who will be attending the services bring your favorite dad joke.
