Listen to Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Matthew John McElroy, 20, of Worcester, MA on Saturday, April 25, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Matthew is received in heaven by Audrey Baldwin, who loved him like a son, and whom he loved like a mother.

Born in Sutton on July 3, 2005, Matthew was diagnosed with multiple complex medical issues since birth. Despite all these challenges, Matthew faced life with strength, resilience, and quiet determination. Matthew found joy in Mario Brothers, Pokémon, and advancing his skills in math and chess. As a foodie, chicken and chocolate were his favorites, but not together!

In 2023, Matthew graduated from South High School with high honors. He then attended Quinsigamond Community College, with the support of his sister, to pursue his love of math. His teachers described him as Mayor McCheese, since he knew everyone’s name, always smiled, and considered everyone he knew his friend.

Matthew lit up the room with his smile and sense of humor. Though his time was far too short, the impact he made on those around him will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

We will miss Matthew immensely, but his warm smile, kind heart, and love will live forever in our hearts.

Matthew is survived by his beloved father, Michael McElroy of Worcester, who adopted and raised all three children. His father lovingly refers to all 3 children as his “M&M’s.”; his twin brother, Michael McElroy Jr.; his sister Maggie who was a constant source of love, care, and protection throughout his life; his aunt Holly; some of his special people included: William, Kenzie, Gia, Amanda, many cousins, and friends. Although not immediate family, Matthew also shared a brotherly love and care with Ryan Ndiritu, who he affectionally called “Ry-Guy.”.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate sharing a memory you have of Matthew on this memorial page.
