MaryJane MJ Regis

June 23, 1950 — September 6, 2022

Mary Jane Regis of Charlton, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully Tuesday September 6, 2022 at her home in the presence of her loving family and friends.

Mary Jane is survived by her son Nicholas Smith and his wife Jess, a daughter Deanna Regis and her husband Mike, a brother David Regis and his wife Karen, and a sister Nancy Regis. She also leaves behind a myriad of cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by her four sisters Carole Caprioli, Barbara Lilyestrom, Betty Prendergast, and Pamela Banks and her brother Peter Regis. Mary Jane was born in Worcester on June 23, 1950, the daughter of the late John G. and Rita M. (Pupkar) Regis formerly of the Columbus Park neighborhood.

She was a graduate of St. Peter's High School, St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing, Anna Maria College and Clark University. She worked as a registered nurse in Massachusetts including at UMASS hospice before earning her Master's of Education and teaching health in the Worcester Public Schools.

Mary Jane lovingly raised her two children and her love and care extended beyond her immediate family to all her relatives and friends. A fountain of strength and forever comfortable in the role of caregiver, Mary Jane was the angel that others could lean on in times of hardship and was always quick to lend her nursing skills when needed. Stubbornly independent, she enjoyed traveling, especially to warm places with family and friends! Mary Jane equally enjoyed reading and gardening at her welcoming home with her beloved dog Teddy.

She will be sorely missed by all those who have had the privilege to know her.

A celebration of Mary Jane's life will be held at the family's convenience.
