Mary E. “Deedy” (Gray) D’Errico, 91, of Worcester, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, surrounded by loving family, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester. She is reunited in Heaven with her loving husband of nearly sixty-one years, Daniel P. D’Errico, who predeceased her in April 2016.
Mary is survived by her loving children, a son, Daniel A. D’Errico and his wife Jody of Falmouth; four daughters, Donna M. D’Errico, Diane E. Polli and her husband Joseph, and Sandra E. DiRoberto and her husband Joseph, all of Worcester, and Justine M. DeNorscia and her husband Kevin of Holden; she was a loving “Nana” to Deanna Foster and husband James, Matthew DiRoberto and wife Samantha, Kyle DiRoberto and wife Nicole, Anthony DeNorscia, and Delaney DeNorscia; two step-grandchildren, Meghan Kegley and Jamison Roy; a great granddaughter, Penelope and one on the way; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one of her beloved grandchildren, Joseph Polli, Jr. She was also predeceased by her siblings, John, James, and Joseph Gray, and Helen Gionet. Mary was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, James and Nellie (Breen) Gray, and has lived here all her life.
Mary was a loving and caring person, who took responsibility seriously; especially at her reception job at the UMass Hospital front desk, where you might have thought she was CEO of the hospital. She was always helpful, always caring. She had previously worked in the marketing department of Allmerica Financial.
Mary played a pivotal role in the lives of her children and grandchildren…she was the “cool mom”, who became friends with everyone and always took time to show her thanks and share a warm smile. When asked how she was doing her response was a quick “not bad for an old lady”, but her heart and her enthusiasm was far from old.
She loved to attend dances with her husband at the VFW on Saturday nights. She enjoyed the family home on Cape Cod, where she created many wonderful memories at Old Silver Beach, with the family she held dear to her.
Calling Hours will be on Thursday, March 5, from 9 am until 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 am in Saint Bernard’s Church Our Lady of Providence Parish, 228 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Interment with her husband will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Care of VNA Care, 67 Millbrook St., 500 North, Worcester, MA 01606) or via www.vnacare.org.
