Listen to Obituary

Marty M. Macha passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9th, 2025, at Hermitage Healthcare in Worcester, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family. He was cared for with compassion and kindness by the wonderful staff, for whom his family is deeply grateful.

He leaves behind a lifetime of laughter, stories, and the kind of wisdom that only comes from a life well lived. Known for his quick wit, sharp one-liners, and mischievous sense of humor, Marty could make just about anyone laugh, even in the toughest moments. His ability to find joy in everyday life was one of his greatest gifts.

Born in Willimantic, Connecticut, on December 12, 1956, to the late George H. Macha and Lucille (Macha) Prescott, and predeceased by his brother George Richard Macha. Marty grew up in Scotland, Connecticut, where his roots remained strong throughout his life. While his life took him on many different paths, he always carried the values of small-town New England. His devotion to hard work, humility, and heart followed him wherever he went.

A talented drummer and musician, Marty’s love of music filled every part of his life, whether he was playing with friends, tapping along to a favorite song, or turning a family gathering into an impromptu concert. He could never attend a family event without breaking into song, often turning laughter into a full-blown singalong.

By trade, Marty was a mechanic and a truck driver. A man who took pride in his work and found peace on the open road. His career took him all over the country, where he built many lasting friendships and collected stories from the road that he loved to share. He could fix anything and usually had a funny comment or two while doing it.

He had a special love for animals, especially dogs, who always seemed to find a friend in him. Marty’s world was filled with laughter, loyalty, music, and the joy of making something work, whether it was an old car or finding the silver lining in any situation that he faced

Marty is survived by his wife, Kathleen Sievers; his twin daughters, Tammy Frates and her husband Brian, and Kimberly Golinski and her partner Brian Allenberg; and his cherished granddaughter, Mikhaila Golinski. He is also survived by his siblings Janet Long and her husband Robert, Roland Macha and his wife Ellen, and Marion Sheehan and her husband Mike, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who were lucky enough to know him.

Marty’s legacy lives on in the stories he told, music he played, and by the laughter he leaves behind, all proof that a good sense of humor, a kind heart, and a steady beat can carry you through just about anything.
